Debate Camp provides a valued summer employment opportunity for skilled debaters, speakers and thinkers who demonstrate ability and interest in working with youth. This page details how to join one of our regional teams.
Debate Camp has operated academic-enrichment summer camps in public speaking, debate and Model UN, across Canada since 2002 and in several Northeastern United States locations since 2015. The mission and philosophy of our program is:
Debate Camp aims to empower students with the skills of effective communication and teamwork through the avenues of debate and public speaking. The goal of our program is to create informed and articulate global citizens in a fun and exciting learning environment.

PROGRAM STAFF: Debate Camp is seeking dynamic and experienced applicants to join our teams in summer 2024 in the position of Program Staff. The ideal candidate has a high level of proficiency in debate (typically parliamentary style, albeit styles background in public forum and or policy is not a barrier to application) public speaking and / or Model United Nations. The ideal candidate is intuitive and aware of what is required to teach and inspire youth and has an understanding of the responsibilities inherent in education and supervision of youth in a camp setting. We seek creative, hard working, collaborative team members who can inspire interest in debate, role model and help curate the debate skills we strive for with our program -- and always, work well with youth.

CAMP NURSE: Debate Camp is seeking a registered nurse(s) for various dates and locations in summer 2024. The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes and qualifications:

Interest in and or experience in working with / treating camp-age youth (11 - 15)
The design of this position is flexible and ranges from 6 day / 6 night availability during our overnight camp sessions and / or 8:30 - 3:30 availability at our various day camp locations. Position duration ranges from 1 - 4 weeks, depending on candidate interest / capacity for travel. Room and board at our overnight camp locations is available as part of this position.

Debate Camp is compliant with standards for operation set by both the Canadian and American Camping Associations, as well as maintaining health & safety standards set by the Massachusetts Department of Health’s CMR430 guidelines for the operation of recreational camps for youth.

CAMP DIRECTOR: In 2024 we are expanding our Camp Director team. We are seeking a Connecticut and / or New York City based Camp Director (1) who will be responsible for the site coordination for a series (one and / or a combination of) of week-long day

Our Camp Directors oversee the implementation of the academic program and daily camp operations. They liaise directly with site location personnel and oversee a team of program leaders, camp staff and interns. The Camp Director is ultimately responsible for the operation of a safe, inclusive and welcoming camp experience for all campers and camper parents. Debate Camps throughout the US Northeast are accredited by the American Camping Association and comply with the highest available standards for the safe operation of recreational camps for youth. The successful candidate will have excellent leadership, organizational, communication, problem solving skills. They will have experience in teaching and learning strategies for youth aged 11 – 16. The position does not require the successful candidate to have a background in competitive debate, but rather a degree of ability as a classroom educator, a natural manager of groups, teams and an ability to build relationships well with all of camp’s stakeholders; parents, campers and partner-school community members.
The successful candidate will be able to enrich and support our staff experience, with particular reference to the teaching
and learning modules we review with our whole team ahead of the summer. Full details on this pre-camp component are

The ideal candidate will have a degree in education and / or related professional certification as well as 1-3 years of
classroom teaching experience. A background in summer camps, day and/or overnight is an asset.
